PTG Logistics Elevates Status in SmartWay Partner Program

February 15, 2013

CINCINNATI, OH  (February 2013)  —  PTG Logistics, a leading national provider of logistics and contract carriage services for business fleets, today announced that it has elevated its status and received the approval of the SmartWay® Transport Partnership to utilize the SmartWay partner logo.  SmartWay Partners that demonstrate superior environmental performance are eligible to promote their participation and status with this logo. The SmartWay Transport Partnership is an innovative partnership of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that reduces greenhouse gases and other air pollutants and improves fuel efficiency.

In conjunction with the SmartWay Transport Partnership, PTG Logistics has received certification to display the SmartWay logo on tractors and trailers that meet the SmartWay-designated specifications.  SmartWay-designated tractors and trailers are the most fuel efficient models commercially available and, when used in combination, can achieve fuel savings of approximately 15% - 20% over a standard model.

“I am very proud that we have elevated our partner status and are now qualified to use the SmartWay logo to demonstrate our commitment to the environment and stand as an example to others in our industry,” stated Roger Welling, PTG Logistics’ president.  “Preserving the environment and operating a more efficient fleet complement each other and help drive a better bottom line.”

According to published indicators, less than 25% of SmartWay carrier partners are qualified to use the partner logo.  Official SmartWay decals will be applied to all SmartWay designated tractors and trailers.  PTG Logistics joined the SmartWay Transport Partnership in January 2010.
